Dexter: Original Sin is certainly packing in the big celebs. Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest to join the prequel series.

We won’t see a vampire slayer join Dexter in the fight against evil, but we will she her take on the role of a presumed protagonist. The question is whether she’ll learn Dexter’s truth, and what happens to her if she does.

Who will Sarah Michelle Gellar play in Dexter: Original Sin

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet will take on the role of SI Chief Tanya Martin at the Miami Metro Police Department. In short, she is Dexter’s new boss, and she will certainly keep an eye on how the young man is doing.

We’ll get to meet Gellar’s character in the very first episode. While TVLine didn’t state that Gellar will join as a series regular, we can expect that based on the role that she’ll take on. There is no doubt that she’ll be a problem for Dexter as he starts to struggle with his needs to kill.

The prequel series will pick up in 1991. A younger Dexter is realizing that he is a serial killer. At least, he has those tendencies. The good news for him is that his father is willing to teach him the “right” ways to kill. There’s a Code, and Dexter has to follow it. Of course, we know who Dexter kills from the original series, and now it’s time to see where he learns his lessons from.

Dexter will work at the Miami Metro Police Department as a forensic intern. He’ll have some daily run-ins with his boss, but he will also learn a lot about how to get away with his crimes and find those who he needs to eliminate from society.

The series is currently in production. It will head to Paramount+, but no premiere date has been given yet.
