Why isn't Kieran Hussey in My Life Is Murder anymore?

Kieran Hussey was the detective to bring Alexa Crowe the cases in My Life Is Murder Season 1. He hasn't been in the series since Season 2, but why?

My Life Is Murder initially introduced us to three main characters. We met Alexa, Madison, and Detective Inspector Kieran Hussey. One of those characters left after the first season.

While we briefly saw Kieran in a video call in the second season, he hasn’t been in the show since. Alexa now gets her cases from Harry, who she didn’t much like at first. He didn’t really want to work with her, either.

Why did Bernard Curry come out of the series? Is there a chance that we could see Kieran show up in the future? Don’t count on it.

My Life Is Murder had a change of filming location

The first season of My Life Is Murder was both filmed and set in Australia. Curry is Australian, and so is his character.

Between the first and second seasons, the series moved to film in New Zealand. This led to a location change for the series, with it set up that Alexa returned to her native country due to some family issues. While Madison came along for the ride, Kieran didn’t.

Kieran remained in Australia. This made a lot of sense for the character, since he wouldn’t just move to New Zealand because Alexa had. Instead, he set up Harry to work with Alexa to solve cases that the police couldn’t.

Madison did get to stick around because she willingly moved with Alexa. This wasn’t by invitation on Alexa’s part, though. Alexa was ready to start a new life in her home country, and then Madison turned up. The two have since developed a great friendship, and it’s clear that started before Madison moved countries, initially to visit and now to live.

With Madison being such a free spirit and not connected to the police department, it was easier for her to move with Alexa, allowing for some consistency between the two seasons.
