Will we learn where Upton has gone off to after Chicago PD?
The end of Chicago PD Season 11 brought us a beautiful moment for Hailey Upton. She went off to do something “more,” accepting that she was worthy of that.
The episode focused mostly on Intelligence finding Voight, who had been taken by the serial killer. Upton put a lot of pressure on herself to find her boss. We’ve always known that there is a sort of familial bond between Voight and Upton, and that came up in the episode.
As Upton made it clear that Voight isn’t bad for her, she also shared that she’s always felt like she wasn’t worthy of anything more than what she currently has. Voight made it clear that she needed to do more, and that led to her quitting her job in the CPD and looking at other career opportunities.
Upton hasn’t necessarily gone off to join the FBI after Chicago PD
We saw Upton look at a few websites. One of them was the FBI, and considering her work with OA in the CBS Dick Wolf series a couple of seasons ago, there were questions about whether Upton would choose to join the FBI after all.
Tracy Spiridakos hasn’t shared where her character has gone. To be honest, even she doesn’t really know. It wasn’t written into the script, and Spiridakos isn’t going to fill in the blanks for anyone, even herself. All we know is that Upton has chosen to stay in law enforcement and gone off to something bigger.
"For me, I did not fill in the blank. Where I left it was that she is feeling happy about this decision for herself, and she’s taking her life in a different direction."
Could we get answers in Chicago PD Season 12?
There is a chance that we’ll get to find out where Upton is in the future. After all, the series hasn’t been canceled. She’s sure to keep in touch with some of her former teammates, especially Voight. I don’t envision her texting Burgess, Ruzek, or even Atwater that much, but I could see her keeping in touch with Petrovic and Voight.
This could allow for some answers to come up. There’s a chance that one of them could mention hearing from Upton or needing to ask Upton about something based on a case since she may have contacts wherever she is now.
The truth is we don’t necessarily need to know. Sometimes, ambiguity is a good thing. We just know that Upton is off living her best life, wherever it may be and doing whatever job she’s doing.
