Will Trent Season 2 promo: Who's in (and who's not)?
Get ready for the return of Will Trent as the ABC hit is finally offering the first look at Season 2! But why is one prominent character not in it?
Will Trent was one of the most pleasant network TV surprises of 2023. The ABC series stars Ramon Rodriguez in the title role of a cop for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, known for his quirky mannerisms. He’s also hiding how he secretly has dyslexia, which aids his fun mind in managing to see clues others miss.
Will works at his job with equally offbeat partner Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson) while having an on-off relationship with childhood friend turned Atlanta cop Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen).
Season 1 ended with Will rescuing Angie from a serial killer, with Angie badly injured in the process. Will also discovered that his GBI boss, Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn), had found an infant Will after his mother was murdered. She’d wanted to adopt him herself but couldn’t, so she sent him into the foster system but kept an eye on him all this time.
It’s been a long wait for Season 2, thanks to the various strikes hitting Hollywood in 2023. But it’s finally coming back in February and fans have the first look at it.
What is Will up to in Will Trent Season 2?
The trailer opens with clips from Season 1 showcasing Will’s quirky manner and his relationship with the other characters. It then moves into footage from Season 2 that includes Will looking at guys in a prison yard and then racing to stop a bombing.
One shot has Will tackling a man about to be killed with the would-be victim played by Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg. It’s unsure if the guy is a target or a suspect and what ties he has to the other cases shown in the trailer.
Notably, there’s no new footage of Angie in the trailer, leading to worries about her condition when Season 2 begins. While Erika Christensen is expected to be back, the best-case scenario is that Angie is still in the hospital and has a long road to recovery ahead.
It still ends on a nice bit of Faith hearing Will mumble along to what he claims are case notes. It thus appears Will Trent is going to keep up the mix of dramatic cases and offbeat humor that made it a hit and continue the success in its sophomore season.
Will Trent Season 2 premieres on Tuesday Feb. 20 at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up on Hulu.
