A potential love interest and 4 takeaways from the Will Trent Season 2 trailer
Will Trent has a new trailer for Season 2 promising some huge new developments! Here's a look at the big takeaways!
For a reminder, Will Trent Season 1 ended with Will saving on/off love interest Angie from a serial killer, but Angie was badly wounded. Will also learned more about his past and how his captain Amanda Wagner found him as an infant following his mother's murder. This enabled Will to move on to the future.
After a long delay due to the Hollywood strikes, a new trailer has shown more for Season 2, and it looks like it's got some big stuff about it!
A deadly bomber is on the loose
The trailer opens with Will sitting next to a young woman in a car with a bomb underneath, being checked by bomb expert "Cricket" Dawson (Susan Kelechi Watson). Will being Will, he's spending the time questioning the hysterical woman on what's happening as if they're not seconds away from being blown up.
Will has to save an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Another bombing takes place, but Will realizes the bomber got the wrong guy. He's actually after a seemingly quiet accountant played by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg. Obviously, the guy has a big secret and a reason someone wants to kill him, so Will has to figure it out before it's too late.
Where's Angie in the Will Trent Season 2 trailer?
It appears that, like other TV shows, Will Trent is embracing the long delay by jumping ahead a few months from the Season 1 finale. That means Angie is out of the hospital and looks to be doing well…very well, given her kissing scene.
However, we get a fun bit of her in a pool, flirting with Will and joking about how long it's going to take for him to remove his expensive suit. So it appears the pair still have that odd on/off relationship even as they seem to be moving to new partners.
Is Will getting a new love interest?
The casting of Watson as Cricket is interesting as the actress is well known for her role as Beth Pearson on This Is Us. One hopes they have her share a scene with Iantha Richardson (who plays Will's partner Faith) as Richardson played Beth's grown daughter in the series.
The trailer ends with Will asking her out (in his own unique fashion) and she seems open to it. This opens the idea of Will getting a new love interest and seeing Will in the dating scene should be amusing.
Is Will hunting his past?
Will may have solved the mystery of his birth, but some shots show him before a board of photos and files in his home. While that might be tied to a case, it's also possible Will is still searching for clues into his past and answers as to how he ended up the way he did.
Overall, it looks like a great year for Will Trent and makes the sophomore season of the hit series even better.
Will Trent Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up on Season 1 on Hulu.
