We know that Xavier Quinn did something bad to a person close to Reacher. It’s time to learn what that was in Reacher season 3, episode 4.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Reacher season 3, episode 4
The new episode of Reacher spends time in both the past and the present. We get to know more details about Xavier Quinn, finding out that the bullet that was lodged in his brain was from Reacher himself. Reacher was sure that he’d killed Quinn, and then had been shocked to learn that Quinn had survived. It was a hard lesson to learn.
Who was Domique Kohl in Reacher season 3, episode 4?
Reacher’s need for vengeance against Quinn is personal. He finally tells Duffy about what happened in the past, and we get to meet Dominique Kohl. She was a smart sergeant in the military, someone who worked well with Reacher. She took in the lessons that he taught, and she was focused on getting things right the first time. When she made mistakes, she only had to be told once to correct things.
It’s not surprising that Reacher liked her from the first meeting. He could see the potential in her, and he watched as she grew in her career. This is a woman who could have gone far, and I could have seen her working extremely well with Neagley in the future.
Sadly, Quinn got the better of her. She was captured and tortured for information. When Quinn didn’t get the answers he wanted, he killed her. Reacher found her hanging in a barn, dead and covered in blood. With Quinn still around, he decided to get some revenge. He took Quinn out to a cliff, shot him in the head, and let the body fall into the body of water below.
Quinn should have died from that. Reacher now knows that the small bullet—which was from Quinn’s own gun so it wouldn’t be tracked back to him—was the problem. He learned from this to never make assumptions in a case.

Reacher helps Richard learn a few moves
During the day in the present day, Reacher sees Richard punching a punch bag. There is everything wrong with Richard’s stance, and it’s clear that Reacher has grown fond of the kid. He knows that this kid wouldn’t stand a chance in the real world without his dad trying to look out for him, so he wants to help the kid in some way.
Beck watches as Reacher attempts to give Richard some fighting lessons. Is this a good thing? Maybe. Beck can see that Reacher is actually trying to help Richard, and it could lead to some trust building between them.
It’s just a small moment that gives us a chance to see the type of heart Reacher has. He knows the good from the bad guys, and he knows the threat Richard is facing if things go south with Beck. He doesn’t want innocent people to get hurt.
Duffy admits to her failings in Reacher
With Reacher opening up, Duffy decided to do the same. She shared that she coerced Theresa into going undercover for Bizarre Bazaar. She lied and said that the DA was after Theresa, and Duffy would be able to help make the extra charges go away as long as she helped. This wasn’t on the books, and this is why Duffy is feeling so bad about the entire situation.
It’s also clear that everything Duffy and her team are doing is off the books. This makes things even more dangerous for all of them, and it could lead to all of them going to jail in the end. That is if they survive.
Beck shares with Reacher that Angel Doll’s laptop has been located at one of the buildings that Beck owns. Julius has sent a team of people out there to retrieve it. In some good news, the tracker only offers real-time location, but this could be a huge issue for Duffy and co. soon.
The building has a steal roof, which means no cell phone signal. Reacher tries to get in touch with Duffy, but it goes to voicemail. Leaving a voicemail is likely a bad idea as anyone could then hear that if Duffy dies, but for now, Reacher needs to keep Duffy alive!
We end the episode with McCabe’s guys turning up at the warehouse that Duffy is in. Will Reacher get there in time to save them?
Reacher airs on Thursdays on Prime Video.
