Are you ready for another sci-fi series? This one involves a murder investigation, where the murder victim is actually alive. You will not want to miss out on Revival, coming to Syfy next week.

Revival is adapted from the comic series of the same name by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton. Starring Melanie Scrofano of Wynonna Earp fame, we follow a town where something mysterious and supernatural has happened. The dead have come back to life, and this leads to an interesting take on a murder mystery. After all, is it murder when the victim is still alive?

What is Revival about?

The series is set in a rural Wisconsin town, where people have suddenly come back to life. It happened on Revival Day, and now the town is setting up a segregated system, with the Revived not being allowed to come into establishments or continue life as they once knew it.

These newly revived people all maintain their appearances, and they have the same memories and personalities, so what is the issue? Well, part of it is that the living people of the town don’t know what happened. Part of it is that there’s no telling what the dead could do.

Dana Cypress is a local police officer and single mom, and she has something bigger on her hands. There’s a murder mystery, but the victim has also come back to life. Now she has to work out who killed the victim, and it could be someone living or dead.

When will Revival arrive on Syfy?

This is a Syfy series, and we learned back in May 2024 that it was happening. However, it’s taken more than a year for it to finally get to our screens. In some good news, the wait is almost over, with the Revival series premiere set for Thursday, June 12.

Episodes will come to Peacock, but not for a week after the release on Syfy. While NBCUniversal owns both Syfy and Peacock, the releases have worked differently for Syfy shows compared to NBC shows. It’s a little annoying, but at least the show will be available. I highly recommend watching on Syfy live.

Revival trailer gives us a look at the world of the dead

Need to know a little bit more about this series? There is a trailer out, and while it doesn’t really focus on the murder mystery element, it does focus on the fact that people have come back from the dead. We get to see how segregation is set up, and it certainly has vibes of the 1960s in there.

We also get a look at more of a supernatural threat to the town, which could be why the Revived aren’t allowed into diners and stores. This is not a sure to skip out on if you love a mixture of crime and fantasy.

Revival premieres on Thursday, June 12 at 10/9c on Syfy.
