Now that SWAT has officially come to an end after eight seasons, there are eyes on what could happen next. We already know that there’s a Hondo-centric spinoff on their way, as he focuses on the new generation. However, there are many other characters from the series who should get some time to shine.
David Lim recently spoke out about how much the news of the SWAT: Exiles spinoff hurt, especially coming days after the finale aired on CBS. It felt like eight years of work had been brush aside for the future, especially as it’s clear the main show’s cast wasn’t warned about it. The show is still near and dear to them, and that’s why some of them definitely need their own spinoffs.

Victor Tan
Let’s start with Lim’s character, Victor Tan. He was one of the three remaining OG cast members of the SWAT reboot, and he continually proved he had what it took to be a great officer. However, his role was underserved throughout the final season. While there was a little bit of focus on him training the new Academy team members and he had the task force, he was forgotten about for the growth of other characters.
That being said, he ended the season with a spinoff possibility. Tan is the Mayoral Liaison for SWAT, and that’s sure to open some doors for a spinoff series. After all, who knows who will try to kill the Mayor.

Deacon
Next up is Deac, played by Jay Harrington, who is the other one of the three OG cast members. His story did seem to gain some closure by the end of the season, but there are still a lot of questions. For example, how exactly is Annie dealing with the reminder that a woman threatened her and her kids because of her obsession over Deacon?
However, the biggest spinoff idea is in the security firm that Deacon owns. We know that he got a major gig for security at malls, and that could open all sorts of storylines. After all, if you live near a mall, you likely know that there are always jewelry store robberies! What else could happen?

Chris and Street
I’m going to put the next two together, because we can’t have one without the other at this point in SWAT. I really want to see the Stris wedding, especially since it was talked about in season 7! There are also some great storylines that could come from a spinoff.
First of all, Street went to lead another squad, which opens the door for this series to continue with a new team. We’ll also get to see Street in charge. Then there’s Chris’s new venture on helping abused and scared women, which could lead to some intriguing and somewhat dangerous storylines.

Luca
How is retirement treating Luca? There is no way that he should have been written out of SWAT season 7 in the way that he was — although, I do think the retirement storyline was great, but he needed to be in more episodes. However, saying that, I’d love to see a series with him not being able to completely stop saving lives and keeping the city safe.
I’d also be up for some sort of generational storyline with him. He was connecting to his daughter, and we saw him connect to a sister he didn’t know he had. These types of storylines could open more of a family drama element, somewhat similar to Blue Bloods.
