Tan gets a personal storyline in SWAT season 8, episode 5, and he may need to step back from the case. It involves his girlfriend.

There’s still little that we know about Olivia. She’s a journalist, and she’s received awards for her work. She started off as a casual fling for Tan, who was coming off the back of a divorce. By episode 11 of season 7, she became his girlfriend.

Tan needs to find Olivia in SWAT season 8, episode 5

When someone close to Tan is in trouble, he will make it a matter of importance to help them. In this case, he gets 20-Squad to help him find Olivia when she’s been abducted.

It turns out that this is connected to a cartel, and the team will need to find the leader. That’s going to be much easier said than done.

I’m intrigued at who this is in retaliation of, though. Is this a way to get to Tan? Does it connect to an old case of his? This would seem likely, but remember that Olivia is a journalist. She’s likely rubbed people the wrong way in the past, or maybe she’s gone undercover for a story and now it’s all come out. It could be that this cartel is after her directly.

Either way, it looks like Tan has to sit the case out. He’s in civilian clothing in the HQ while the rest of them are in uniform. It makes sense that he has to sit this one out. It’s too personal for him, and that can lead to him making some bad decisions.

The promo tells us nothing, but the synopsis gives us the details. Take a look at the synopsis for SWATseason 8, episode 5:
