Canceled FOX crime drama has 'zero' chances of being saved for this disappointing reason

The Cleaning Lady is not being shopped around.

When a TV series is canceled, we all look to fight to save it. There’s only so much that we can do as fans, though. The show’s creators and producers also need to do their part, and this is where we get some disappointing news about The Cleaning Lady.

The FOX crime drama is not going to be saved. This isn’t because of cast options expiring or because nobody wants to take it on. It’s for an utterly disappointing reason that made saving the show impossible.

The Cleaning Lady isn’t being shopped around

TVLine delivered the disappointing news when a fan asked about the chances of The Cleaning Lady being saved. Without a doubt, there is zero chance of it happening, and it’s got nothing to do with elements outside of the series.

It’s to do with the show itself. The Cleaning Lady hasn’t been shopped around. Despite four great seasons of storytelling and a clear way to end it with a fifth season, those involved in the behind-the-scenes decided not to even fight for the show.

"The chances are, alas, zero. I am assured that The Cleaning Lady‘s run has come to an end, and no new home is being sought."

This is worse than shopping it around and failing. It feels like those behind the creation haven’t even fought for it.

The Cleaning Lady shouldn’t have ended on a cliffhanger

It’s disappointing that the writers chose to end the fourth season on a cliffhanger and then not fight for it. There’s almost a sense that everyone thought it was going to get canceled anyway. The third season had performed mediocrely in terms of linear ratings, and that meant that there would have naturally been fears that it was getting one final season to wrap up the story.

So, why didn’t that happen? Why didn’t everyone involved decide to go out with a bang? This is what Resident Alien showrunner Chris Sheridan decided to do. He had a feeling that he wouldn’t get to tell more of the story, so he decided to look at wrapping up the storylines instead. It feels like Harry’s story is coming to an end.

The Cleaning Lady fans deserved the same. Instead, we’re left with far too many questions and this hope that Thony could have taken over. It makes rewatching episodes bittersweet knowing that it’s like the production company didn’t care about it or us enough to fight for closure.

The Cleaning Lady is available to stream on Hulu.
