We would love nothing more than to watch a new episode of The Equalizer. It is Sunday night, which should mean an episode is on, right? Well, we have some bad news.
The Equalizer is still in the middle of its winter break. There isn’t a new episode of the series on at all throughout January 2025. We’ll need to wait until after the Super Bowl for new episodes, but what are the chances of a rerun?
What’s airing on CBS tonight, Sunday, Jan. 12?
There is some bad news for those looking to watch a rerun of The Equalizer tonight. CBS has reruns of NCIS: Origins all night.
This does make some sense because the network wants to help the NCIS prequel find its audience. The series is struggling a little in terms of the linear ratings, so putting reruns on Sunday nights could help. It just sucks for fans of the Queen Latifah series, as it means we have to wait to even just get reruns of the series.
The good news for fans of the series is that it’s available on Netflix and Paramount+ to catch up on. You get to choose the episodes that you watch rather than whichever rerun CBS chooses to put on.
When will The Equalizer return with new episodes?
The series won’t be back until after the Super Bowl. The Equalizer season 5, episode 9 will air on Sunday, Feb. 16. Yes, the series is moving to the later timeslot of 10/9c, straight after the new series Watson.
This delay in return makes a lot of sense. Sundays are taken over by football and award shows this time of year. It doesn’t make sense to bring shows back on Sundays when the linear ratings take a hit due to this games and shows. This Sunday will see the last of the Wild Card games air on NBC, so the linear ratings would have likely taken a hit against that.
The Equalizer returns with new episodes on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up on Netflix and Paramount+.
