In 2024, Netflix released a new series, The Gentlemen, based on the 2019 movie of the same name. Starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, the aristocrat drama focuses on Eddie Halstead, who, after inheriting his family's estate, discovers it is now hosting a large weed empire. The series was renewed for a second season, and now we have some exciting news.
Everything comes together so cleanly on the screen that we sometimes forget how difficult and time consuming filming can be. This isn't obvious in the final product because of the hard work and dedication the post-production team puts into making the final product as enjoyable to watch as possible. With this in mind, it's not shocking that the show took a brief hiatus in 2025, leaving fans confused and wanting more.
The good news is we have a light at the end of the tunnel. The Gentlemen season 2 will drop on Netflix in 2026. The question now is when.
Filming for The Gentleman season 2 took less time than expected
Season 2 of The Gentlemen began filming back in late May 2025, according to What's on Netflix. Season 1 of the show had eight episodes, and, while there is no confirmed count for season 2, it would be safe to assume it would aim for a similar amount.
Filming wrapped up on Monday, Oct. 20. While this finishing date came faster than expected, that doesn’t mean viewers will be able to see what’s in store for their favorite characters anytime soon.
The Gentlemen season 2 has already been filming for five months. The post-production process for season 1 took nine months. While the same amount of time could be estimated for season 2’s post-production, it could take up to 10 months, depending on what needs to be done to improve the watchability and enjoyment of each episode. With this knowledge, the show could arrive sometime in Q3 or Q4 of 2026.
New stars, characters, and locations
The second season of Netflix’s aristocrat drama will see the addition of several new cast members, and with that, new characters to either love or despise. Among the names added to the casting list are Hugh Bonnneville, Benjamin Clementine, Bendetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Ian Bonar, and Cosimo Fusco.
Fans with knowledge of Italy or geography will be able to spot Lake Maggiore throughout this season. With the show having filmed a good portion of its new season in Italy, expect to see beautiful architecture and stunning views.
So, when is this new season coming out? Well, according to a recently released article on Show Snob the new season, along with new episodes of 10 other shows, will be coming in 2026. With an 8 out of 10 rating on IMDb and a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, this isn’t surprising.
