Alec and the team will have their work cut out for them in The Irrational season 2, episode 6. It’s made harder when companies won’t work together.

After taking a week off, Alec and his team are back with another problem to solve. This is a big one, with us seeing in the promo that Alec is going to put himself directly in the path of a train in an attempt to save the day. Kylie is not happy with Alec’s reckless behavior!

However, this could have been avoided had one company decided to help instead of hinder. We get to see why one of the lines isn’t getting shut down ahead of the disaster in this sneak peek.

The Irrational season 2, episode 6 sneak peek

Alec and Laura, a data scientist who has come to Alec for help, are trying to get another company to shut down a line. Laura says that work needs to be done on Line 1. Founders Freight owns 70% of Line 2. If the woman from Founders Freight Laura is talking to will agree to shut down the line, it will allow for the repairs on Line 1 to prevent a disaster.

Alec even tries with a bit of psychology. He shows the potential boss of the company a photo of someone on one of the trains. He has special leave from the military because his wife is in labor. He’s excited to become a dad, but that may not happen if they don’t shut the line down. Does this little bit of humanity work?

Sadly not. The woman behind the desk makes it clear that she knows that while shutting down the line can help, it will also affect people negatively. She worked for the air companies during 9/11 and shares that shutting down air space for three days was a hinderance to many. She won’t do it again, even though this isn’t an “if” but a “will” situation.

Could Alec and the team end up forcing her to change her mind? Is there a way to make the company shut down the line? We’ll have to wait and see, but for now, it looks like Alec and Laura have hit a dead end.
