Can you believe The Irrational season 2 finale is here already? We can’t either, but it’s clear that it’s going to be a big episode.
Thanks to our friends at NBCUniversal, we have a sneak peek of The Irrational season 2 finale to share. It gives us an update on why Alec is called in to help with a multi-national prisoner exchange. We get a chance to see his psychology at work, and it comes out with the results that people wanted at the time. The question is whether everything else will go right.
The decoy effect in use in The Irrational season 2 finale sneak peek
The episode will focus on a multi-national prisoner exchange. The U.S. and Russia are both involved, with the exchange happening in Geneva. It makes sense to have it happen on neutral ground, especially with the various other rules in place for the entire exchange.
However, when the U.S. finds out that one of the Russian prisoners has committed another crime — and a much more serious one — they want to get more in the exchange. The best way to ensure the Russians pick that offer is by going through with the decoy effect.
In the sneak peek, Alec explains what that is. It’s when three offers are presented, with two of them being the worst of them. The third offer is the one that everyone wants the person to pick, and 90% of the time, it works. Does it work this time? Well, yes, but there is a catch. After all, the Russians aren’t completely backing down.
There’s also the issue of the United States government going through with the exchange as well. With a prisoner being accused of a more serious crime now, there are questions of whether the entire thing will fail.
