It’s Tuesday night, and that means we’re ready for new episodes of The Irrational on NBC. There is some bad news when it comes to the episodes this week, though.
There isn’t a new episode of the crime drama tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 10. There isn’t even a rerun on NBC tonight, either. We’ll get a three-hour episode of The Voice, bringing us the show’s finale.
Does this mean that we’ll get a new episode next Tuesday? Sadly not. We’re into a lengthy break.
Why isn’t there a new episode of The Irrational on tonight?
The three-hour episode of The Voice isn’t the only reason for a lack of episode tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 10. The show is on its winter break. The previous episode was marketed as the fall finale.
Breaks this time of year are important. The linear ratings take a hit as people spend more time with family or go to events, and airing new episodes can end up putting a show at risk. On top of that, the cast and crew will want to take this time of year off, so that means they need time to get ahead on filming when they return, or there needs to be this break at another point in the year.
When will The Irrational return with new episodes?
The length of the breaks is different depending on show and network. The good news for The Irrational fans is that this break isn’t as long as some others. It’s a lengthy one compared to other breaks we’ve seen already in the schedule, but it’s round a month long.
We’ll get a new episode on Tuesday, Jan. 7. It will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT as usual.
There are some details of what to expect when the show returns. We’ll get to see Rose helping Alec on the next case, which has a body in the woods when the title is “Ghost Ship.”
The Irrational returns on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
