Friday nights have certainly been taken over by The Rainmaker recently, but there’s some bad news tonight, Friday, Oct. 24. This is news you’ll want to pay attention to.
The bad news is The Rainmaker won’t air a new episode on USA Network tonight. In some good news, The Rainmaker season 1, episode 10 is now available on Peacock, so if you’ve been a week behind on the show, now is your chance to catch up!
Why isn’t a new episode of The Rainmaker on tonight?
The lack of new episode on Friday, Oct. 24 is pre-planned. The previous episode was the season 1 finale, which is why Dot Black’s case came to an end. If you haven’t seen it, don’t worry, we’re not spoiling it here. Those who have read the books will know that storyline, but there was a slight change to the way things ended for Dot in the TV series.
There is some exciting news, though. Just ahead of The Rainmaker season 1's finale dropping on Peacock, USA Network announced that it was happy with the performance, giving the series the greenlight on a second season.
This won't be surprising news for many, as the linear and streaming ratings together were strong. My concern was the lack of social chatter, but I'm glad that wasn't an indication on the viewing figures, as it often is. The finale itself was the most-watched finale on USA Network in seven years (which does cover the pre-no-scripted-shows period).
What could happen in The Rainmaker season 2?
Now eyes are on what to expect in the second season of The Rainmaker. After all, there isn't the source material for this season. It becomes its own show, and that opens a lot of doors.
Showrunner Michael Seitzman told TV Insider that he isn't even sure what to do with a second season just yet, and there are some characters he's not sure about coming back. There needs to be some, such as Rudy Baylor, Bruiser, Deck, and even Sarah. However, characters like Pritcher and Brad could be left in prison, just going about their lives there with their story just playing off-screen.
The show could even go more of an anthology route, wiping the slate clean completely. That's unlikely though due to TV contracts, so we're likely to see at least some of the stars back. After all, we need to know what happens to Leo and we certainly need to see if Deck can pass the bar this time.
At least we know there is The Rainmaker season 2 coming to USA Network. And it's coming in 2026.
