The first episode of The Rainmaker has now aired on USA Network. Yes, this is a new adaptation of the John Grisham novel of the same name, which was turned into a movie starring Matt Damon in 1995.
The Rainmaker follows a lawyer who finds himself fired from his prestigious white-collar firm. He ends up taking a job with an ambulance chaser, leading to his legal experiences and character clashing with the paralegal’s less-than-honest methods.
However, things soon take a turn when they come across a genuine case involving a wrongful death of a Black man in hospital. They know what they need to do, but Rudy soon finds himself up against the firm that he once worked for.
The Rainmaker release schedule
There are 10 episodes to the series, with each one airing on Fridays on USA Network. As the show is a cable program, it does mean weekly episodes. There isn’t a way to binge-watch until the finale airs.
So, with that in mind, you need ot know the release schedule. The last thing you’ll want to do is skip over a new episode!

The Rainmaker will stream in Peacock
In some good news, you don’t need to watch the episodes live each night. This is a series that will head to Peacock, but there is a catch. It’s not the following day.
Like so many other USA Network releases, episodes of The Rainmaker will stream on Peacock a week after the USA release. That means on Friday, Aug. 22, you’ll be able to watch this first episode. Then you’ll follow on each week, with the finale airing a week later.
By the way, it you’re in Canada, you’ll be able to watch it on the Bell Media version of USA Network. That will mean it streams on Crave.
No, you don’t need to watch the movie first
If you don’t have time to watch the movie, don’t worry too much about it. You won’t need to check out the Matt Damon flick to understand The Rainmaker. This is the same story, and there is more time for the TV series to delve into the book material, and this will hopefully help to flesh out characters better.
It could be worth reading the book, though, if you haven’t already. I’m always on the fence with this, as then you get ideas from the book in your head. If you haven’t read The Rainmaker yet, then maybe it’ll be worth waiting until the first season has finished airing.
