If you loved the 1995 movie The Rainmaker, you’ll want to check out the latest series to head to USA Network. Based on the John Grisham novel of the same name, The Rainmaker has now premiered, and it’s set to delve more into the book than the movie had time to do.
Yes, the first episode has already aired, and you’ll be looking at where to stream it online. USA Network shows tend to go to Peacock, right? Well, that is going to happen, but there’s a bit of bad news. It’s not arriving just yet.
The Rainmaker will come to Peacock soon
While NBC shows and some Syfy shows head to Peacock the following day after new episodes airs, that’s not the case with USA Network. Despite it being part of the NBCUniversal brand, USA Network shows are delayed. This is to encourage people to watch live when episodes air, so make sure once you catch up, you remain caught up or you’ll be a week behind throughout the season.
The Rainmaker season 1, episode 1 will be added to Peacock on Friday, Aug. 22. Then the episodes are added each week from there.
While this is annoying, it does make sense for USA Network. This is a smaller cable channel, and it will want as many eyes on it as possible to keep shows going. There is a revival of sorts for the cable channel, so we’ll want to give it a chance to grow and bring more great shows.
What is The Rainmaker about?
You don’t need to have read the book or watched the 1995 movie to enjoy the new USA Network series. The Rainmaker is a great look at what happens when someone is pushed around and stomped on enough. Rudy is fired frorm his white collar law job on the first day of work, and he decides he wants to go toe-to-toe with said firm.
There’s a medical malpractice case that he wants to fight, and there’s one key element that tells him that this is a case worth taking to the court. However, there are likely to be a few spanners in the works, including a nurse who may or may not be a murderer.
All the while, Rudy needs to figure out what to do about his relationship, as his girlfriend is still working at the prestigious law firm. On top of that, she’s going to be part of the opposing counsel team, and that could really knock him off his game.
The Rainmaker airs Fridays on USA Network, with episodes dropping a week later on Peacock.
