The Rookie: North looks to be on the fast track to hitting the air as ABC just announced a whopping five characters are being added to the cast of this new spinoff!

It’s been a few months since ABC announced The Rookie would be getting a new spin-off, called The Rookie: North. It will star Jay Ellis as Alex Holland, a man hitting his midlife who, after a home invasion, is inspired to join the Pierce County Police Department in Washington as its oldest rookie.

Chris Sullivan had also been cast. Now, Deadline breaks the news that the pilot will be adding five actors in Froy Gutierrez, Janet Montgomery, Karen Fukuhara, Mya Lowe and newcomer Malik Watson.

Unlike The Rookie: Feds, this won’t have a “backdoor pilot” to set up the series, but a standalone pilot that promises the same drama as The Rookie in a new locale.

Deadline provided details for who each of the new cast members play and what they bring to the show.

Montgomery will play “Charlotte Dru, Alex’s training officer. A former MP-turned-Pierce County Police Officer, Charlotte is precise, disciplined and calm under pressure with a subversive sense of humor.” The British actress is best known for the medical drama New Amsterdam and the cult supernatural series Salem

Lowe plays “Elora Howe, a new rookie chasing a recently discovered purpose, like an oasis in the desert, hoping desperately that it’s not a mirage.” The actress is coming off runs in Yellowjackets and the Fox crime drama Murder in a Small Town.

Gutierrez is "Odell Chance, a new rookie. Cool, athletic and confident, things have always come easy to him. He aced everything he’s tried in life, including the police academy. But he’s never been truly tested.” Gutierrez is familiar to TV fans for playing Nolan in the hit supernatural series Teen Wolf

Fukuhara is "Leah Mizuno, Odell's training officer. Leah comes from the high expectations of overachievers, where becoming a cop did not go over well. But unlike most youthful acts of rebellion, Leah loves what she does.” Fukuhara is likely most known for her turn as Kimiko on The Boys, which just finished filming its final season, freeing her up for this part.

Watson is a younger actor and the show will mark his first major acting gig. He portrays “Mark Lewis, Elora’s training officer. Mark is a cowboy, all sharp edges, but he’s the backup every cop hopes shows up when they’re in danger.”

The series is expected to begin production in Vancouver with an emphasis on a forest setting rather than the big cities of The Rookie. We still need to wait and see if it’ll be picked up, but with a big cast on board, The Rookie: North seems set to join ABC’s schedule next season!

The Rookie airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC.
