We’ve always known that Colter Shaw doesn’t just find people for money. He also wants to help people, and that’s certainly the case in Tracker season 2, episode 7.

Yes, Colter does his job for money. This is how he survives in his own lifestyle. It’s how he’s not like the Winchesters in Supernatural having to use fake credit cards and hustle for money. However, that doesn’t mean he only does it for cash. He’s not one of those rewardists who will check out the highest bidder.

We even saw it when it came to the horse. He cares about people and animals, and now he’s going in search for another animal.

Colter finds and loses a dog in Tracker season 2, episode 7

When Colter finds a lost dog at a gas station, it looks like he may be happy to do a good deed. Why not when the dog is right there? The problem is that this dog doesn’t remain in Colter’s truck. No, the dog doesn’t escape on his own accord—there’s no way Colter would allow that to happen. Instead, the dog is taken from Colter’s truck.

Why would someone want the dog? Could this be for some reward money? Well, it’s possible, but Colter also finds a family tied up. This would suggest the dog has been taken for some ulterior motive. Maybe it’s a way to get the family to pay a higher ransom, or maybe it’s because the dog is of a special breed that the thief can sell.

Either way, Colter is out on the case. He will stop at nothing to find this precious family pet. It doesn’t matter how silly it sounds as he says he’s going to find “that dog.”

Tracker better follow the rule of not harming the dog, though. Far too many shows take the dog and then kill it. We don’t play by those rules. Don’t worry; we’ll be watching to find out what happens to the dog!

Check out the promo and synopsis for Tracker season 2, episode 7:

"When Colter finds a lost dog at a gas station in Denver and the dog is subsequently stolen from his truck, Colter makes it his mission to track it down and reunite it with its family."

Tracker airs Sundays on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
