Tracker season 2 won't return in January 2025 with new episodes

Looking forward to continue Colter Shaw's story in January 2025? There's some bad news when it comes to Tracker season 2.

“Ontological Shock” – When Colter suddenly disappears during his search for a missing father, Reenie recruits his brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles), for help, on the CBS Original series TRACKER, Sunday, Oct. 20 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. There is still a lot to cover in Colter’s story in Tracker season 2. That means we want the show to return as soon as possible, but there is some bad news to start with. Tracker season 2 will not air new episodes in January 2025.

That won’t be surprising to many people. CBS made it clear that Sunday shows wouldn’t return until February, and there are some good reasons for this. In fact, it could help the show to have this slightly longer-than-we’d-like break.

When will Tracker season 2 return with new episodes?

CBS made it clear that we would have to wait until after the Super Bowl. Tracker will return on Sunday, Feb. 16. It will start of Sunday nights full of drama at 8/7c. It will then be followed by the new medical detective series Watson and then The Equalizer.

It’s clear that there is more to come in the Gina Pickett case that has plagued Colter for some time. He got word that someone called “The Teacher” was behind the murder, pulling the strings with Frank Whales involved in the actual murder. The Teacher would get young boys to lure pretty girls to “The Farm,” and Colter needs to get to the bottom of what that is.

We’re assuming that Gina was murdered, but that’s not confirmed at this point. Considering how this series goes, it’s likely that she has gone missing and she’s being held somewhere. This certainly has the smell of a trafficking ring.

Why the Tracker delay is a good thing

Waiting until February for the series to return is actually a good thing. At first, it’s good because Sunday nights in January are busy. We end up having championship games in the NFL and award shows. The networks that aren’t airing these events will usually opt for reruns because otherwise the linear ratings take a dive.

On top of that, there’s the need for breaks after the returns in January. There are only so many episodes for the weeks available. With this delay, there’s a good chance that we won’t get any breaks in the Tracker schedule. There are enough weeks to have the Tracker season 2 finale air on Sunday, May 18 presuming that there’s a full 22 episodes to the season.

Tracker returns on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
