There is a little bit of bad news as we start this post. Tracker is now off the air for the time being. While there may be reruns here and there, we won’t get any more new episodes for a few months.
In some good news, Tracker season 3 is happening. The series was one of nine renewed back in February 2025, which came to no surprise to the majority of people. This series is one of the top performers for CBS, which is especially great considering it’s a Sunday night show and can struggle with pre-empted times thanks to the NFL games.
However, we have to wait for Tracker season 3. Summer hiatus has started.
We just had the Tracker season 2 finale
Don’t worry; we’re not getting into any spoilers in this post. All we’ll say is that Tracker season 2 has come to an end in an epic style. Last night, Sunday, May 11, the finale aired and closed out another part of Colter Shaw’s journey.
This is standard for this time of year. All the broadcast networks are taking some time off, as the summer months hit. People start to go away or they spend time with friends in the evenings while the weather is warmer. People are not at home watching TV!
At the same time, the cast and crew of shows don’t work all-year round. They need to take some time off, and that usually happens between April and July. Filming tends to start back up in July, getting a few episodes in the can ready for the fall.

Tracker season 3 will premiere in fall 2025
There is some exciting news for Tracker fans, though. The Justin Hartley series will return in the fall. CBS has released its 2025–2026 TV schedule, and Tracker season 3 will premiere in the fall on Sunday nights. It’s keeping the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, although there’s a chance it will be pushed a little later now and then due to the NFL.
The series is going to act as a lead-in to a new singing competition on CBS called The Road. In the spring, it will be the lead-in for the new Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals and then Watson.
Tracker is available to stream on Paramount+.
