Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Unforgotten season 6, episode 2
Unforgotten season 6, episode 3 sees Juliet Cooper, a lecturer on modern history at Central London University, refusing to bow down to the union about the perceived microaggression charge, saying it’s not fair to the students not to teach them about reality. She tries to comfort Taylor, who thinks her dad killed himself because of her.
Jess and Sunny show up at Juliet's house and tell her about finding Gerry's body in the marsh. Juliet told them she always thought his death was violent, not suicide, because of money problems. It turns out Gerry borrowed money from Abanian gangsters during the pandemic. The team notices Juliet lives in a very nice house and sends Taylor to an expensive school. They question whether life insurance may have been a motive in Gerry's murder.
Erjon Markaj, the loan shark, says he loaned Gerry the money as a friend, but he paid it back—with interest. He denies killing Gerry, saying, “dead men don’t pay debts”. There was always a woman who was in the car with him when he dropped off his repayments--and it wasn't Juliet. He suggests looking at Juliet, who was always a little too eager to point the finger at the loan sharks.

Will Sunny and Dr. Balcome become more than friends in Season 6 of Unforgotten?
Sunny goes out for a drink with Dr. Leanne Balcombe—they look pretty chummy. He tells her about the perils of his online dating experiences. Jess’s sister calls Jess and wants to meet up with her to talk, to mend their relationship.
Sunny visits Ram Sidhu in prison, the officer who led the initial investigation into Gerry's death and called it a suicide, and was later charged with corruption. He said Juliet isn’t what she seems, and their money probs were huge. Juliet pushed the moneylender theory too hard at the time. He also says Gerry was beaten up by a guy the previous year, and suggests looking into him.
Marty leaves his mother alone when reporting to his psychiatrist, Dr. Renfield. He’s in tears, saying he deserves to have a girlfriend. Dr. Renfield increases his medications to help ease his anxiety. Later, Marty is on online chats with misogynists who encourage violence against women.

Dot, Marty’s mom, has a big bruise on her face, saying she slipped getting out of the shower. The care worker, Doreen, wants to speak to social services, but Dot says no, because she doesn’t want to leave Marty on his own. Marty gets upset with Doreen, stating he likes it at home with his mom.
Hassan is sent to work on a farm picking strawberries. He only gets paid for two hours of work despite working all day. Asif tells him to apologize because he needs this job.
Seriously conflicted, Melinda goes to church to pray about Patrick’s injury. She ends up having sex with a priest, Fr. Ryan, in the church, and he apologizes afterward. Gabriel, her right-leaning TV producer, calls her, despite their obvious loathing for the work they do, and tells her their job is to give their viewers their opinion. She then delivers a blistering op-ed about the hoax of global warming.
Melinda speaks to her mother, who tells her about Gerry’s body being found in the marsh. They used to picnic at the marsh when Mel was little. Melinda calls Juliet and threatens her, saying that if she tells anyone about her, she’ll regret it.
