In some excellent news, we know that High Potential season 2 is happening. The renewal came in ahead of the first season coming to a close.
Now eyes are on how long we’ll have to wait. ABC won’t announce the fall 2025 lineup until May, but we can take a look at the chances of the series landing a fall or a spring timeslot.
High Potential performed well in the fall lineup
The show quickly cemented itself as a series to watch. It was fun, quirky, and well-written. There’s no doubt that we tuned in for Morgan at first, but each of the other characters have held their own and gained our attention.
The series sits in fifth place in the demo, but that’s behind two spring shows—Shifting Gears and Will Trent—and two fall shows—911 and Abbott Elementary. It’s fourth in the total audience, pushing ahead of Abbott Elementary. It’s clear that it could hold its own with another fall timeslot, but ABC may want to change plans.
High Potential performed better in the winter
While the first season held up well for ABC in the fall, there’s no denying that the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Tuesdays it better for it. When the show returned in January, it was up 100% in the demo and up 69% in the total audience, according to TV Series Finale.
ABC could look at that and see a strong winter and spring timeslot is better for the future of the series. We saw Will Trent and The Rookie return in the midseason instead of the fall, and for some good reasons. Not only did it allow for a night of quirky crime dramas on Tuesdays, but it also meant that the two shows could run throughout the winter and spring without any breaks in the schedule. The consistent schedule is much better for the future of a TV series.
It's hard to call what ABC will decide to do with High Potential. I’ll be honest and say that if it’s held for the midseason with Will Trent (which I’m sure is going to be renewed), I won’t complain too much.
High Potential is available to stream on Hulu.
