Dante Torres was missing from the investigation in Chicago PD season 12, episode 17. Officer Cook wanted to know where he was, but does anybody know?
As the case started up, Cook turned to Burgess for information about Torres. She was clearly worried about the guy, who she has grown close to when it comes to personal situations and the past. What’s going on with Torres, and when will he return to the series?
Nobody knows where Torres is right now in Chicago PD
Burgess shared that Torres had taken some time off. That’s all she knew. She didn’t know why Torres took the leave or where he is. At least last time he was missing for a while, we got the news that he was on furlough to look after his mom.
This is worrying when it comes to Torres. He has been through some heavy episodes lately. In one of the most recent episodes, he went undercover as a prison guard at a juvenile detention center he was one at. As the door closed behind him, he panicked. The trauma of the past runs deep, and it’s possible that he needs some time off to deal with that.
Sure, this was a few episodes ago, but the investigations haven’t been all that easy for anyone after that. Just after this, Zoe’s situation came up again, with her “dad” abducting her and hiding her away from everyone before he died. It took a lot of investigative work to find out where Zoe had been placed, and that was going to play on everyone’s mind in Intelligence.

Why isn’t Benjamin Levy Aguilar in Chicago PD season 12, episode 17?
This MIA status isn’t necessarily a bad thing for Benjamin Levy Aguilar. No, he is not leaving the series. The contracts for each of the stars have been changed, so they don’t show up in every single episode of a season. This means every now and then a character is missing, and a storyline needs to be created. This contract negotiation is a way to help reduce the costs of producing the series.
As we get closer to the season finale, we’ll likely start to see the entire team together. After all, the finale is sure to be a huge case and it will be all hands on deck.
We’re expecting this to happen again in Chicago PD season 13, assuming that the series is renewed. The costs of production continue to rise, and these contract negotiations are the easiest way to keep costs down. Plus, this has been going on for a few seasons now and it’s working, even though as fans we miss our favorite characters.
Chicago PD airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
