We watched as Bella Gibson’s lies and deceit were exposed in Apple Cider Vinegar season 1 on Netflix. Will there be more to the story?

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Apple Cider Vinegar season 1

Throughout the first season of Apple Cider Vinegar, we watched how Bella and Milla grew their social media platforms. We also saw the downfall, especially for Bella, who was a scammer. At least Milla’s platform was grown via telling her own story, even though it did arguably put people at harm.

Bella’s medical conditions were made up. She did it all for attention and then for money. The series ended with Bella getting caught out in her lies, just as the real Bella Gibson was caught. However, the series didn’t end with certainty for everyone.

We did see how Milla’s life came to an end, succumbing to complications from her cancer similar to one of the social media influencers the character was based on, Jess Ainscough. Bella was arrested and convicted of her crimes, but we left Bella and Clive in limbo. Then there was Lucy, who was able to see how dangerous Bella’s social media platform was. After her partner, Justin, helped expose Bella, Lucy was able to seek the medical help she needed.

Apple Cider Vinegar was billed as a limited series

It’s worth noting that while some storylines were left open, Apple Cider Vinegar was always billed as a limited series. The ending worked the way the writers wanted it to. This was a look at the build up to Bella being caught, with a fictionalized telling of how that happened.

There is some room for a story if the series wanted to continue. We could find out what happened to Bella after she was fined—because we know in real life, she didn’t pay anything and her home was raided. There is room to discuss what happened between Bella and Clive, as Clive tried to stand by Bella at first. Then there’s the story of what happened to Lucy afterward. While Lucy is a fictional character for the series, that doesn’t mean we didn’t end up invested.

However, there isn’t a need for more to the story. We got the story of the build up to catching Bella. Any more time after that would give Bella a platform to continue her deceit and lies. It’s probably best to keep the ending to the story where it is.
