CBS will bring a few new shows to the network in 2026. We’re used to getting them in January of the new year, getting the new series off to a great start. That’s not going to be the case in January 2026, as Y: Marshals is on the list of shows being held for a little later.

Like CIA, Y: Marshals won’t get its start in January. It also won’t get its start in February, but this is more due to the way the weeks fall and the fact that the Yellowstone series is airing on a Sunday night. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the spinoff.

Y: Marshals is being held until March 2026!

In a surprise decision, CBS won’t air Y: Marshals until March 2026. Again, this is purely due to the way the weeks fall due to February being such a short month. Y: Marshals will premiere on Sunday, March 1, and it gets a strong timeslot.

It will air at 8/7c on CBS, with Tracker and then Watson following it. It’s clear that CBS wants this show to perform well and putting it in the post-60 Minutes timeslot is the way to do that. It’s worth noting that football season has finished at this point as well, so there’s no need to worry about the episodes being pre-empted by the afternoon games.

In fact, this is the main reason Y: Marshals won’t premiere in January. Sundays are taken over by huge football games and awards shows, which ends up with a tricky schedule. We often see the shows then air in February on Sundays once the Super Bowl is over, but due to the Winter Olympic Games, there is a further hold to ensure the series performs well.

Y: MARSHALS (working title) (Premieres Sundays, Mid-Season, 9:00-10:00 PM), stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty, and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence. What is Y: Marshals about?

The new Yellowstone spinoff sees Kayce Dutton move from the Dutton Ranch to the elite U.S. Marshals. He is an ex-Navy SEAL after all, so he wants to keep protecting people and his country, and this is the way to do it. The benefit for Kayce is that his cowboy skills will also become useful, as he focuses on bringing justice to people in Montana.

The first-look promos don’t give a lot away, but Kayce is focused on a new beginning. There are some exciting returning faces to the series, along with Luke Grimes. Gil Birmingham will return as Thomas Rainwater and Mo Brings Plenty will be back as his right-hand man, Mo. Of course, we’ll get to see Brecken Merrill back as Tate Dutton, and we’re hoping to see Kelsey Asbille back as Monica considering Kayce and Tate are back!

Yes, get ready for some new faces as well, because a spinoff doesn’t work with just the original characters from a series. Logan Marshall-Green will take on the role of Pete Calbin, one of Kayce’s friends from the military days, and Arielle Kebbel will star as Belle. There are no details on her character, except that we know she is part of the team. Ash Santos will play Andrea and Tatanka Means will play Miles, both Marshals who Kayce will work with.

Then there’s Brett Cullen, who will join the series as Harry Gifford. He will recur as the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana, and it’ll be interesting to see how Kayce respects him and follows orders.

Y: Marshals will premiere on Sunday, March 1 at 8/7c on CBS.
