SWAT ratings rose on Nov. 6 as Season 3 gave TV crime drama fans a look inside Hondo’s family. See the latest SWAT numbers.

SWAT ratings were up this week for the CBS drama’s first post-World Series episode, which also centered on its main character’s backstory.

Wednesday’s installment “Kingdom” drew in 3.84 million viewers watching live, an improvement over the previous week’s 3.39 million (+0.45, or an increase of 450,000).

But interestingly, even though the show gained nearly a half million more eyeballs, it actually fell in the broadcast TV rankings.

How is that possible? Remember that Oct. 30 saw TV shows competing with Game 7 of the World Series, so many shows gained viewers back this week after they were watching MLB baseball last week.

More from SWAT News

That meant SWAT was ranked tenth in total viewers, out of the 15 programs that were on broadcast TV this Wednesday night. That’s down one spot from the prior week, but at least still inside the Top 10.

The news for “Kingdom” wasn’t so great when you zero in on the adults 18-49 demographic that is particularly sought after by advertisers (and thus networks). The episode’s 0.5 share was the same week-to-week, but likewise dropped from 11th place down into a tie for 12th.

So amongst viewers aged 18-49, the only Wednesday shows less watched were The CW‘s Riverdale and Nancy Drew.

SWAT also tied with its direct competition, ABC‘s Stumptown, within that category. However, in total viewers, it’s second in the 10 p.m. time slot only to Chicago PD.

CBS can probably take some solace in that, even if the series isn’t garnering a huge audience. It’ll be worth watching to see how it continues to fight for the 18-49 crowd with Stumptown; both are in the same genre, and airing at the same time.

If SWAT, as the established show, can get more of that sub-section that might be a huge plus for its future. No decision has yet been made about Season 4.
