Steve is getting a visit from the CIA in the episode, titled “Ka ‘i’o,” which translates to DNA. McGarrett’s mother is wanted by the CIA after going rogue. She’s killed agents, and now she’s wanted for her crimes.

The problem is that Steve doesn’t believe that his mother would do this. There has to be another reason for something like this to happen. So, he’s heading off to investigate, and he’s going to do it alone.
It’s not clear what the rest of the team will be up to during the episode. The promo is extremely focused on McGarrett’s storyline, including the heartbreaking look he has when he realizes that his mother may not be as innocent as he wants to believe. Will she shoot him to get away?
I’d love to say that original characters won’t be killed off at this point, but let’s be honest; NCIS: New Orleans recently killed an original character without any warning and none of us are sure how to cope. Could Hawaii Five-0 follow suit?
