The Rookie ratings were up for another week on Nov. 10, even as Season 2 gave Nolan a heartbreak. See the latest The Rookie numbers.
The Rookie ratings grew for the second consecutive time on Nov. 10, continuing to build more of an audience for the ABC crime drama. Is it on its way up?
Sunday’s episode “Safety” featured a pregnancy scare for John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and his girlfriend Jessica Russo (guest star Sarah Shahi), which led them to make a big choice about the future of their relationship. The plotline also attracted more viewers.
The hour had 3.74 million people watching live, a decent increase from last week’s 3.48 (+0.26, or 260,000).
It’s the second week in a row that The Rookie Season 2 has grown its audience, and both times it’s gained at least a quarter of a million viewers.

“Safety” also re-gained the percentage of adults 18-49 that the previous installment lost, bringing the show’s score within that category back up from a 0.5 to a 0.6.
But before fans get too excited, we still have to look at these gains in the context of all the other broadcast TV shows that air on Sunday nights. The Rookie did have an up week, but it wasn’t the only show that did.
As a result, even though its total audience was larger, the series actually did worse in the overall ratings rankings for Nov. 10.
The Rookie was ranked 13th out of the 19 broadcast TV programs on the Tuesday schedule—a fact that’s even worse considering that last week there were 21 new shows, so even with fewer competitors, the show still dropped a spot.
Specifically in the 10 p.m. time slot, most of the networks transitioned to local news, but this episode lagged behind the final season of Madam Secretary on CBS (at 3.98 million). That means it was the lower-rated show at 10 and the second-lowest ABC show of the night behind Shark Tank.
In the key demographic, “Safety” tied for 14th out of 19 shows with NCIS: Los Angeles.
So the good news is that The Rookie ratings are growing, but that’s not going to have as large an impact when other series around it are improving, too.
Of course, ABC can’t control that, so all that fans can hope for is that their own show keeps getting bigger and hopefully knocks off some of its competition in the future. If you’re not watching The Rookie live, this is the time to start.
