2. Taken Down

This Irish crime drama is one you just can’t afford to miss. Not only does it have an intriguing story to get behind, but it’s a timely topic. On top of that, we have a crime force that has two women leading the charge to find the murderer.

It all starts with a woman and her sons coming across from Africa to gain asylum. Flash forward 10 years or so later, the family is still living in the temporary housing, still waiting for permission to remain in the country. If that wasn’t enough, they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation.

That investigation is of a young girl who lives in the same temporary housing. She’s found dead at the bus stop but it’s soon clear that that isn’t where she was originally attacked. The Gardaí don’t realize that they’re going to be pulled into a story of human trafficking, prostitution, and more.

Something that you’ll enjoy outside of the main storyline is the two lead females not being all that perfect. They have their own personalities and are toughened and flawed, offering two three-dimensional and real characters.

There’s only one season right now, so you’ll easily get through this during Thanksgiving weekend.
