10 TV crime dramas in danger of being canceled in 2020
6. Mindhunter
This is one of the Netflix TV crime dramas that I didn’t want to put on the list, but since its second season debut, we’re still waiting on a renewal. Mindhunter Season 2 was released in August. It usually takes a month for Netflix to decide on the fate of a series, and it’s now December. Things aren’t looking good.
One reason for the delay could be the development of the storyline for the third season. It’s possible that Netflix is just waiting for the creators to come up with the right pitch. However, I’m not entirely convinced. We know David Fincher wants to create more, but he’s being pulled in other directions at the moment. Wait too long, and there may no longer be a request for more episodes.
Final verdict: I don’t want it to be canceled, but I don’t think we’ll get Mindhunter Season 3.
5. Nancy Drew
The CW brought Nancy Drew, a murder mystery series that has certainly captured the attention of many. It took a while for the show to take off, but it’s now pulling in a viewership that matches Riverdale.
Despite being one of the lower-rated shows, it sits in the middle of the total audience figures. This could help to save the supernatural take on the Nancy Drew books. Something that also helps is that it’s a CBS Studios series, which means it’s cheaper for The CW to run.
Final verdict: Since it was picked up for a full-season order, I think The CW might just renew Nancy Drew.
Official decision: Nancy Drew was officially renewed for Season 2 on Jan. 7, 2020.
