STUMPTOWN – “Forget it Dex, It’s Stumptown.” – Dex Parios – a strong, assertive and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother to take care of – works as a PI in Portland, Oregon. 4. Shadow

Another Netflix show on the list and this one comes from March 2019. With the knowledge that Netflix usually renews within a month, two at the most, things aren’t looking good for the South African crime thriller.

Part of the problem will come from lack of promotion. It was only when the March releases came up that I found out about Shadow. And then, it wasn’t one that was on a “must-watch” list for many. The lack of promotion didn’t put the show on people’s radar enough. How many people have watched it?

Final verdict: Since Daybreak has been canceled, I believe Shadow will either be announced in 2020 or it’s just been quietly canceled and will stay that way.

3. Stumptown

I’ll be honest and say the extended season order was a surprise for me. Stumptown has performed poorly in the live ratings from the beginning. And this does come down to the timeslot. We just have to look at other great TV shows in the timeslot, like Whiskey Cavalier, to see that things aren’t great.

The benefit for Stumptown is the DVR ratings are clearly good. That’s what got the show an extended order. Are they good enough for ABC to justify a second season? That’s still to be seen.

Final verdict: I’m on the fence, but ABC needs to make room for new shows. I get the feeling Stumptown will be canceled.
