NCIS Season 17, Episode 12 saw Tim McGee face a personal decision. Of course, he turned to his colleagues to figure out what to do. What was that decision?

McGee needed to make a personal decision on NCIS Season 17, Episode 12. Slowly, each member of the team found out, including Gibbs. After all, it wasn’t the best-kept secret! But what exactly was that decision and why did he need to make it?

He told Torres first, at the start of the episode. McGee shared that he was getting a vasectomy. And yes, Torres reacted just as you would think: shocked at the idea of McGee thinking of doing this. He even had the audacity to question why Delilah wasn’t the one getting her tubes tied. Someone might want to tell him that Delilah’s procedure is far more dangerous and takes longer to recover from than McGee’s.

Anyway, after that, McGee turns to Jimmy since Jimmy is one of the closest friends he has in the workplace with a child. Jimmy is also a doctor, so can run through some of the dangers, the recovery, and more.

Vance also offers advice since he’s had a vasectomy. In fact, he’s had two. It turns out the first one didn’t take!

But why did McGee need to make this decision?

I know this is your question. Is there a particular reason? Well, it all comes down to him and Delilah not wanting any more children.

They have twins and the twins are a handful. Considering they’ve had one multiple birth, there’s a chance that they could have another, and there’s no way either of them wants to risk that. McGee told Torres that outright.

However, McGee is torn, and it’s not just due to the risks. There’s a part of him that wonders if he is doing the right thing. What if they decide that they want more children after all?

This is a big decision and I respect NCIS for including it. Something the show has always been able to do is bring small mentions of personal lives without them completely overtaking the case. We get a glimpse into what’s going on in their lives without necessarily seeing their lives.
