Jimmy is interviewing assistants in NCIS Season 17, Episode 13, raising questions about Ducky. Here’s what to expect and how to watch the episode live.

NCIS Season 17, Episode 13 looks to have a focus on Jimmy Palmer, and it’s about time. We haven’t had a Jimmy episode yet this season. However, the episode also raises questions about Ducky’s future on the show.

We’re heading into the episode knowing that Jimmy is going to interview medical examiner assistants. This was the role Jimmy first entered the series in, and he’s slowly risen to the ME for the team since Ducky’s stepped back.

But the idea of interviewing for an assistant suggests that Ducky is not coming back at all. We know that actor David McCallum wanted to step away for his health and to spend time with his family. That led to Ducky needing to be written out through writing a book and lecturing. Does this mean that Ducky is going to be permanently leaving the series if it’s renewed for Season 18?

It’s not quite been the same without Ducky, but NCIS did have the benefit of promoting a character we’d already got to know well. We all have a soft spot for Jimmy, right? It’s been excellent to see him develop into this role, but I’m not sure how to feel about interviewing for an assistant. It’s necessary for Jimmy, but it just means something too permanent for Ducky.

Meanwhile, the team has a case that could be murder but it could also be accidental. There’s a body at an unmanned vehicle aerial testing site. Just how has a body ended up there?

Well, when looking at the promo it’s clear that the accident wasn’t actually an accident. It’s not going to be a case that’s easy to solve when the evidence was lost in the blast.

Check out the promo and synopsis for NCIS Season 17, Episode 13:

"After a body is found at an unmanned aerial vehicle testing site, the NCIS team must determine if the death was murder or an accident. Also, Palmer carefully interviews medical examiner assistant candidates."
