All eyes are on the future of FBI and other CBS TV shows. Will FBI Season 3 happen on CBS or is the series going to be canceled?

We’re at the point of the year where networks will need to start making firm decisions on the bulk of their shows. That means CBS will need to decide whether FBI Season 3 is going to happen or not. Is there a chance the show will be canceled or is this one of the TV crime dramas that’s safe?

CBS will look at a number of factors when choosing whether to cancel or renew a series. The live TV ratings are certainly a big contender, but the network will also look at delayed viewings and whether it thinks there’s a future for the series.

More from FBI on CBS News

I don’t think there’s a thing to worry about when it comes to FBI Season 3. The live ratings for the second season have been too good for the network to see the show come to an end just yet. The positioning after NCIS on Tuesday nights is perfect.

According to TV Series Finale, the show has an average of 8.916 million viewers and a 0.86 demo rating. While those numbers are down from the first season, they’re nothing to be concerned about. In fact, the drops are just 1.84% in the audience and 11.15% in the demo. They’re a drop in the ocean compared to many other shows.

FBI remains the fourth most popular show on the network when the demo is considered. It’s the second most popular drama, as it sits behind NCISYoung Sheldon, and The Neighborhood. When you consider the audience average, the show is the second most-watched behind NCIS.

Of course, there are always other factors to consider. I thought Hawaii Five-0 was safe, but the series is ending after its current season. However, it sounds like the show is ending and not canceled. There’s a huge difference between the two terms when it comes to the wrap-up of a series. There are no signs that cast members are moving on so FBI Season 3 is likely to happen.

Now it’s just for when the show will be renewed. By this time last year, we knew that the show was coming back for a second season. However, CBS has been quiet on most renewals this year, so I don’t think the delay is anything to be concerned about. Most renewals come in April or May, so I suspect that’s when we’ll find out about FBI Season 3.
