CBS made a change to the schedule last week due to the Democratic debate. What about this week? Is NCIS Season 17 new tonight, Mar. 3?

Last week, there was a change to the usual CBS schedule. Feb. 25 saw NCISFBI, and FBI: Most Wanted preempted for the Democratic debate. So what about tonight? Is NCIS Season 17 new tonight, Mar. 3?

Sadly, it’s another week without our favorite murder-solving team. CBS is preempting episodes of all three Tuesday night TV crime dramas for politics again. A CBS News Election special will be on instead.

More from NCIS News

This isn’t all that surprising. While there were many complaints about the shows being preempted for politics, the debates did draw in more viewers and a higher demo than any of the three TV crime dramas. Yes, more people tuned in for politics than the would for a new episode of NCIS. This is an important year for many.

There was supposed to be a rerun of the series tonight. That schedule has changed this week, possibly linked to changes in the Democratic leadership contest but also possibly just because CBS realizes that people are interested in politics this year.

Whatever the reason, we have to wait until Mar. 9 for an episode of our favorite crime-solving team. Gibbs and co. will be back with an all-new episode.

We at least have a synopsis for Season 17, Episode 17 now. Titled “In a Nutshell,” the team will investigate the death of a Navy officer. This is no basic murder, though. It turns out the murder is in the same vain as the murder of his parents 10 years earlier. And on top of that, there is a storage container of dollhouses that display the murder scenes.

"As the NCIS team investigates the death of a Navy officer murdered the same way as his parents a decade ago, they stumble across a storage container filled with dollhouses that display recreations of murder scenes. Also, the team agrees to clean out their living spaces, but some have a harder time saying goodbye to their possessions than others."

This reminds me of an old movie. I’ve never figured out the name and never seen all of it, but I remember glimpses of it from when I was a child. The dollhouse was somehow magical and the dolls moved into the positions of the murdered occupants in the house.
