8. Medium

Number of seasons: 7

Starring: Patricia Arquette, Jake Weber, Miguel Sandoval, Sofia Vassilieva, Maria Lark, David Cubitt

What it’s about: Medium is a little different to the other TV crime dramas on this list. Instead of being your typical procedural, it takes on the form of the supernatural. Patricia Arquette plays a medium who talks to the dead and helps figure out their murders.

She works closely with the District Attorney to make sure there’s justice for the dead. However, not everyone is willing to listen. They’re skeptical of her gifts, which is only natural. She does manage to prove her abilities to some key people, creating an excellent TV series that you need to check out right now.

7. Blue Bloods

Number of seasons: 10 (so far)

Starring: Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Andrew Terraciano

What it’s about: For some, police work runs in the blood. That’s the case on Blue Bloods, which focuses on a family of men and women in some form of law enforcement. An Irish Catholic family of cops, each member of the family shows a different side of police work and the law, showing how everything links together.

This is certainly a series for those who love to see how police and law work together. It offers a look at how the two will have different goals at times but need to find ways to work with one another. And it shows how a family can be affected by the different elements of their jobs.
