The FBI Season 2 finale is airing earlier than we hoped, but it brings the Chicago PD crossover. Here’s how to watch the episode live.

We knew there was a chance that it was happening, and now that chance is tonight. The FBI-Chicago PD crossover airs tonight. It’s also the FBI Season 2 finale, and here’s how you can watch the episode live.

The FBI Season 2 finale is airing earlier than we all expected just last month. Due to the novel coronavirus, production on the TV crime drama shut down early, and Episode 19 of the current season was the last one filmed in full. Due to the cost of restarting production and it being unclear how long production would need to shut down for, the show decided to completely wrap production on the season.

More from FBI on CBS News

Not only is it an FBI-Chicago PD crossover, but Chicago Fire is involved in a way. Monica Raymund, who played Gabriela Dawson for six seasons, will direct the episode.

The only character physically on the screen from the One Chicago franchise is Tracy Spiridakos’s Hailey Upton. This could, however, allow some sort of update on what Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) is up to after leaving Chicago PD.

Upton is stepping in Maggie Bell’s shoes temporarily, assigned to offer OA a partner while Bell is working undercover. That undercover storyline was introduced when Missy Peregrym announced her pregnancy, allowing Missy to take time off the show without writing the pregnancy in. It’s why you’ve seen Maggie wear a lot of big jackets this season.

For Upton, the move is supposed to be a punishment for her reckless behavior on Chicago PD. You don’t need to know too much about the PD storyline if you don’t watch it. However, this could lead to Upton getting to understand more of why certain protocols are put in place.

There are high chances there won’t be a large cliffhanger at the end of this season. At least, not the potentially big cliffhanger planned. There will be a lot of questions unanswered and left to pick up in Season 3 (presuming it happens).
