Prodigal Son adds another twist to the Girl in the Box mystery
The Girl in the Box mystery continues on Prodigal Son, and this time with a darker twist. Just what happened to this woman?
Just as we thought we were going to get some answers about the Girl in the Box on Prodigal Son, we’re thrown another curveball. The twist brought another player to the mystery, but we still wonder what happened to Eve’s sister.
During Prodigal Son Season 1, Episode 18, Malcolm helped Eve get some answers. He encouraged Eve to infuriate Martin Whitly enough to make him need to tell her the truth. However, it turned out that he didn’t kill Eve’s sister, Sophie, after all.

We thought the Girl in the Box was the 24th victim. She was going to be, but it turned out that she was on the run from another dangerous man. Believing that Martin was hired by this other dangerous man, she found a way to save her life when she learned he was, in fact, The Surgeon. With a tale of her story, we learned that Martin never killed her.
However, that doesn’t mean Sophie isn’t dead, of course. She was on the run from one very dangerous man: Nicholas Endicott. The same Nicholas Endicott who is currently charming Jessica Whitly. The poor woman can’t catch a break when it comes to dangerous men!
It sounds like Endicott has never got his hands dirty. He gets others to do the killing, which links to his comment to Jessica about being guilty by association. Does he believe he’s not guilty by association to the people who do the killings for him?
All this leaves us plenty of questions about what actually happened to the Girl in the Box in the end. Martin shares that he didn’t kill her, but he helped her hide from Nicholas. Is that still the case? Is she still on the run or did Nicholas eventually find her? And could she help to save any of our characters who could end up in a sticky situation with Nicholas?
After all, it’s clear that Nicholas has managed to keep his secret for so many years and will want to keep it for the years to come. This means the likes of Jessica, Ainsley, Malcolm, and even the NYPD members will be in danger.
It’s an excellent twist to the story. Nobody had called this, with many just waiting for the reveal of what Martin did to Eve’s sister. Now we have a bigger and far more dangerous mystery to solve.
