When will NCIS return with new episodes?
With TV productions shutting down, we’ve had fewer episodes of NCIS than we usually get in a season. When will new episodes air on CBS?
2020 is an unusual year for TV shows. We usually have new episodes of our favorite TV crime dramas running until May, but that’s not happening this year. NCIS Season 17 has already come to an end due to TV productions shutting down earlier than expected. Now eyes are on when new episodes of the top-rated drama will air.
Sadly, we don’t have an answer to that just yet. In fact, CBS hasn’t renewed NCIS for Season 18 just yet. Everything has been left in limbo. We’d expected to hear something by now, but there may be delays as more people work from home and some work ends up backlogged.

We have no reason to doubt that there will be an 18th season of the series. The only thing that is going to cause this show to an end is Mark Harmon leaving. He is the backbone of the show. It wouldn’t survive without Gibbs. So, as long as Harmon is happy to do another season, we have it.
Assuming that it’s happening, when will we get new episodes? We still can’t answer that.
The show usually returns to filming in July of each year. This is standard for all fall shows. However, there’s nothing standard about 2020. Nobody knows when shows will be able to return to film.
There is some hope that some of the current restrictions can be lifted by July 2020. However, that doesn’t mean all TV shows will return to production. There is a chance there is a staggered return or that they’re all forced to wait until later in the year. The fall schedule may not start on time.
Usually, we’d say a new season will premiere in the last couple of weeks of September. We can’t even say that right now. We’ll keep you posted when we have more information.
