NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 is now available on DVD.

Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles can now pick up NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 on DVD through CBS Home Entertainment. Here’s what the latest set of CBS‘ popular TV crime drama entails.

Season 11 was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, but still has 22 episodes, which is almost a full season. Among the 22 is the show’s 250th episode, so both casual and dedicated fans will be interested in adding this to their collection at least for the milestone.

The box set is now available for purchase on Amazon; as of this writing, it’s priced at just $29.99 for the five-disc collection. There is no Blu-Ray release for this season, and the full season is not available digitally.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 DVD details

Season 11 comes to DVD on five discs but technically speaking, the collection is a bit lacking.

The video is presented in full screen—not the widescreen that has become standard for most TV shows.

It’s also bare-bones when it comes to audio and subtitles. There are closed captions for the hard of hearing, but the captions are only in English. Likewise, there’s only one English audio track, so the set won’t be accessible to anyone for whom English is not their first language.

That seems to be par for the course with recent CBS releases (it’s identical to last month’s titles), but it’s awkward that there isn’t widescreen presentation. Essentially, the video fans have seen on TV is not the viewing experience they’re going to have at home.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 DVD special features

There’s a small but interesting selection of bonus features on this latest NCIS: Los Angeles release. If you’re one of the collectors who buys physical media specifically for the extras, there might not be enough here to justify that, but there’s a few things that provide some behind the scenes looks at the season.

Showrunners Frank Military and Scott Gemmill are the only participants on a standard making of season 12 featurette called “An Evolution,” while the 250th episode “Mother” gets its own making of centered on star-writer Eric Christian Olsen (who co-wrote the installment with Babar Peerzada).

Then there’s a brief feature about rapper Offset guest-starring in episode 16, “Alsiyadun,” and a selection of deleted and extended scenes. Unless you’re an Offset fan, only the first two are likely to hold fans’ interest, and neither one has a ton of rewatch value. However, it is interesting to see what went into the milestone episode, especially since it was co-written by one of the cast.

Completists will want to add this set to their collection, but fans can take or leave it. If you don’t need the bonuses, consider waiting to see if the full season becomes available for download (as of this writing, Amazon Video only has select episodes, and at $2.99 an episode you’ll be paying far more than the DVD set).
