The cast and crew are back together to start NCIS Season 18 filming

Today is the day that NCIS Season 18 filming starts. Barring any serious problems, the cast and crew should be back together. This is a day later than initially planned.

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes. The industry has had to change the way it’s done things. NCIS: LA returned to filming earlier this month, and according to CarterMatt, things have been different. Daniela Ruah talked about everyone on set wearing masks and everyone routinely disinfecting everything. Anything to keep the show going and everyone healthy, right?

We’ll likely see a lot of that on every set. Recently, Grey’s Anatomy went back to filming and the cast shared photos with their masks on between takes. Other productions have done the same.

Does the first table read suggest anything about NCIS Season 18?

The NCIS Season 18 premiere is likely to be the first episode filmed. Some TV shows do film episodes out of order for various reasons, often being that one of the lead stars is directing the episode. However, with things working under stricter procedures this year, it’s possible that the show has stuck to the idea of the first episode filmed being the first episode aired.

What we do know is that Episode 400 is going to be the second episode to film. It will also be the second episode of NCIS Season 18. This episode will involve a backstory on Gibbs and Ducky’s relationship.

But what about the premiere? Does the first table read that Wilmer Valderrama say anything about the premiere episode? What we do see is that David McCallum is there, which suggests he’s back for the premiere episode. The rest of the main cast is mostly there, and it makes us feel like we’re home.

Maria Bello is missing from the virtual table read, unless she’s the one with the show picture and hasn’t turned up with her video on. That would seem unlikely, so it suggests she may not be part of the first episode.

We know Maria Bello is leaving the show. She’ll do eight episodes to allow the show time to write the character out.

Right now, CBS hasn’t set a return date for the season. It’s still going to be sometime in the fall, but we’re looking at November 2020 as a likely return date. I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.
