NCIS Season 9 MVP: McGee reminds us of his hacking skills

McGee takes the win as the NCIS Season 9 MVP

It wasn’t easy picking an MVP for NCIS Season 9. In the end, it came down to McGee stepping up when he was needed the most, reminding us of his hacking skills.

To be honest, Tony DiNozzo was on my list for a while. This was a big season for him, starting with him being shot in the premiere and not remembering a thing about it. Then there was the case that involved DiNozzo Sr., leaving our Very Special Agent sidelined for a while. It was an important episode for the development for their relationship.

This was also an excellent season for Jimmy. Still a recurring guest star at this point, the season focused on his wedding, which was supposed to happen in the NCIS Season 9 finale. We saw him pick a best man, deal with his difficult father-in-law, and develop that bond with the rest of the team that would be essential for the current season.

While there was a lot of character development for DiNozzo and Jimmy, McGee also received some excellent development. One particular episode saw him be the only person who could help thanks to his hacking skills.

All about The Tell

During NCIS Season 9, Episode 18, Gibbs and DiNozzo are on security detail. When a shooting takes place, Gibbs has to work with Jamie Lee Curtis’s Dr. Samantha Ryan to figure out who leaked the top-secret info for the shooting to take place.

Trying to figure out where the leak is coming from is difficult. There’s a hacker responsible, and this hacker is good. Very good.

There is only one person in the team who is able to help deal with this situation. McGee has the skills to follow the hacker, but it’s not made to look easy. There are times of doubt. There are questions about who is really involved in the hack.

It’s not often the show utilizes McGee’s hacking skills. However, I suspect they’re needed far more than the episodes let us on.

The confidence growth in McGee would help him become the Senior Agent and Second-in-Command that he is now.
