Did The Blacklist Season 8 really kill off THAT character?

There were a lot of secrets revealed during The Blacklist Season 8, Episode 2. Of course, we still have a lot of questions, but there’s one burning one right now.

As you would expect, there are major spoilers in this post from The Blacklist Season 8, Episode 2. Catch up on Hulu if you haven’t already seen it before reading on.

More from The Blacklist News

The Blacklist Season 8, Episode 2 saw Katarina learn a few secrets from her father, Dom. One of the biggest secrets is Red’s alleged real identity. Dom told Katarina that Red is the KGB mole known as N13.

Dom also shared that Red has the Sikorsky Archive. Well, allegedly. We never know when The Blacklist writers are giving us another tall tale.

With Katarina knowing the truth, Red had to act. Red killed Katarina, and not just secretly away from everyone else. He did it in front of Liz.

And yes, this looks final for Katarina. That is if she was Katarina Rostova.

Red has indefinitely damaged his relationship with Liz

While it seems impossible, there was a glimmer of a chance that Liz and Red could work their way back to trusting each other. Well, maybe not trusting each other, but a chance to have the relationship Red tried to have at the beginning of the series.

However, Liz made it clear that if Red killed Katarina, that would be it for them. There was no hope.

By Red killing Katarina in front of Liz, he has lost her for good. This is war between them now, and Liz will do whatever she can to make sure Red pays for his actions.

It also doesn’t help that Dom died in this episode, too. In a way, it’s a shame that Dom’s death couldn’t have happened to write off the character after Brian Dennehy’s death. However, Dom was needed to reveal the secrets. There was no way around that, especially since this was the intended ending to The Blacklist Season 7.

Could this be how it all comes to an end? Will The Blacklist Season 8 be the last so we finally get all the answers we’ve needed and see a final showdown between Liz and Red? We’ll have to wait until January to find out where things pick up next.

But yes, it looks like Katarina is really dead this time. If it was Katarina at all.

What did you think of Red’s actions? How will Liz get her revenge? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

The Blacklist Season 8 returns with all-new episodes on Jan. 22.
