What we know about the Prodigal Son Season 2 premiere date and more

There isn’t much longer to wait for Prodigal Son Season 2, and the wait is certainly going to be worth it. What do we know about the premiere date, cast, trailer, synopsis, and more?

We don’t have a lot to work with right now. Despite being about six weeks away from a premiere date, little has been shared. We do have a trailer, and we can make some assumptions based on the information there.

Let’s take a look inside everything we do know.

Prodigal Son Season 2 premiere date

We do know when the Prodigal Son Season 2 premiere will air. Get your DVRs set for Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 9/8c on FOX.

More from Prodigal Son News

Yes, this is a night change. It’s a tough night, too, going up against CBS’s TV crime drama night. So, you’ll want to make sure the DVR is set or you have Hulu to watch it the following day if you spend Tuesdays watching NCIS and the two FBIs.

Prodigal Son Season 2 cast

Tom Payne will return as Malcolm Bright. We also know Michael Sheen will be back at Martin Whitly. And don’t think that Bellamy Young and Halston Sage will be missing as Jessica and Ainsley Whitly.

This season is going to offer a little focus on Ainsley considering her actions at the end of the Season 1 finale. The entire family needs to be there.

We’ll also see Aurora Perrineau and Frank Harts return as Det. Dani Powell and Det. JT Tarmel. Will we find out what JT stands for this season or is that going to be a running joke?

Keiko Agena will return as Dr. Edrisa Tanaka.

The big question for many was whether Lou Diamond Phillips would return as Gil Arroyo after everything that happened at the end of the finale. We last saw him being operated on, but it wasn’t clear if he would survive. There is a lot of hope he will as he’s spotted in the trailer.

Prodigal Son Season 2 trailer

Speaking of the trailer, the most recent one is below. This seems to have some footage of the second season, and not just the cases of the week. It looks like there are a few clips of things that Malcolm will do to protect his sister.

Also, we have some more flashbacks of Martin Whitly, as well as shots that look like he’s going to try to escape prison.

Prodigal Son Season 2 synopsis

There isn’t an official synopsis for the Prodigal Son Season 2 premiere just yet. However, we can work out that this is going to involve Malcolm and Jessica covering up everything that Ainsley did. She killed Endicott, which was to protect her family, but she doesn’t remember doing it. Ainsley seemed to blackout while she carried out the killing.

This could be a storyline to delve into, especially based on the creepy Season 2 announcement video. It’s time to find out if the show should be called Prodigal Daughter instead of Prodigal Son.
