Queen Latifah steps into the role of Robyn McCall on The Equalizer Season 1, Episode 1. Here’s all you need to know about the series premiere.

You’ll have seen the movies starring Denzel Washington. Now it’s time to see the series with Queen Latifah in the main role. She’s known as Robyn McCall, but she’s also known as “The Equalizer,” a vigilante who wants to bring justice to the people who need it.

She’s a guardian angel to many people out there, able to use her extensive skills (anyone getting Taken vibes there?) to defend those who are unable to defend themselves.

Naturally, she is also trying to redeem herself. We don’t know just yet what she’s done in the past, but we’re sure to find out. The question is whether her teenage daughter, Delilah, knows the full truth.

Well, it turns out her daughter doesn’t. And neither does Aunt Fry, who Robyn and Delilah live with. Robyn has to try to balance her home life and her vigilante life, just like all those superheroes you’ve watched and read about over the years. How long will the secrets hold? After all, she’ll have to explain her injuries somehow.

What to expect on The Equalizer Season 1, Episode 1

The series premiere is going to introduce us to the main characters. As well as Robyn, they are:

  • Chris Noth as William Bishop
  • Tory Kittles as Marcus Dante
  • Lorraine Toussaint as Frieda “Aunt Fry” Lascombe
  • Liza Lapira as Melody Chu
  • Adam Goldberg as Harry Keshegian

This is a series packed with powerful and strong women. It’s certainly going to be a big draw, especially with the premiere episode airing straight after the Super Bowl.

The time for the episode is set for 10/9c, but that could change to being later. It will depend on whether the Super Bowl runs over for whatever reason. After this, the show will move to its regular 8/7c timeslot on Sundays, giving us a full night of TV crime dramas on CBS.

If you love the movies, this isn’t a series you’ll want to miss. Check out the promo and synopsis for The Equalizer Season 1, Episode 1 to get an idea of what to expect:

"Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) presents to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is The Equalizer – an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption. Robyn’s clandestine work remains a secret from her smart and observant daughter, Delilah (Laya DeLeon Hayes), and her aunt Vi (Lorraine Toussaint), who lives with Robyn to help her balance life as a working mother."
