It’s official. We’re getting NCIS: Hawaii at CBS. It’s going to have a female lead, but what do we know about the series so far?

We start with the great news that NCIS: Hawaii has been picked up with a series order, according to TVLine. That means it’s not a traditional pilot order with the hope of a series confirmed. CBS has a feeling that this is going to be a series for NCIS fans to tune into and has already picked it up to series. It’s a little like FBI: Interntional‘s pick-up.

While we’re hoping for a fall start, it could be held for the midseason in a way that FBI: Most Wanted and The Equalizer initially were.

The show will be set in Hawaii, at NCIS Pearl. Unlike the previous shows within the franchise, this one will have a female lead. The character is currently known as Jane Tennant and hasn’t been cast yet.

Other than that, we know very little about the series. We’re still hoping for some sort of crossover with Hawaii Five-0 since NCIS: LA already made it clear that the two shows are within the same universe.

Could NCIS: New Orleans characters go to NCIS: Hawaii

We’re still hoping for other familiar faces to turn up. With NCIS: New Orleans coming to an end, there was a little bit of hope (from me!) that Hannah and Carter would end up moving over to Hawaii to lead a team. After all, Hannah was on that career path before she was used as a scapegoat and demoted.

However, the news that the show will have a lead called Jane Tennant suggests that this isn’t going to happen. Of course, this is just tentative right now. And it also doesn’t mean we can’t see some of the New Orleans characters move over later.

It also doesn’t mean we can’t see some Hawaii Five-0 characters pop up. However, it looks like those aren’t plans especially with Katrina Law joining the flagship series as a new character (despite same universes).
