There are a lot of changes to the CBS fall 2021 schedule. NCIS is moving from Tuesdays for the first time in 18 years, making way for FBI Tuesdays.

Oh yes, the CBS fall 2021 schedule is going to look like nothing in previous years. However, for FBI fans (and for Dick Wolf), Tuesdays are shaping up to be fun nights. It’s three hours of FBI shows, with the parent show moving to the 8/7c timeslot.

FBI: Most Wanted will keep the last timeslot of the night, putting the new series FBI: International in the middle. This move makes three nights of Dick Wolf dramas as NBC will have One Chicago Wednesdays and Law & Order Thursdays!

But the move to make FBI Tuesdays work in the CBS fall 2021 schedule means that one major TV crime drama is on the move. NCIS isn’t going to be part of the Tuesday night lineup for the first time since it began!

NCIS moves to Mondays, SWAT moves to Fridays and Sundays

We start with the NCIS move. It’s heading to Mondays at 9/8c. That was the timeslot taking up by All Rise for the last two falls, but the legal drama was canceled after two seasons.

The move is strategic. Not only will it help to strengthen the post-comedy timeslot, but it will help to introduce a new TV series. NCIS: Hawaii is taking up the 10/9c slot on Mondays, which means Michael Weatherly’s Bull is on the move.

Bull will move to Thursday nights, going up against Big Sky on ABC.

There are other big movements, though. SWAT will no longer take over the Wednesday night slot. Instead, it’s going to start in the Friday 8/7c slot, kicking off TV crime drama Fridays in the way MacGyver used to do. After a few weeks, it will then move to Sundays in the post-NCIS: LA slot.

Why not go there immediately? SEAL Team Season 5 is getting a limited linear run before moving to Paramount+. Why not just stay on Fridays? Actually, I’m not sure. It would be good to have SWAT on Fridays with Magnum PI and Blue Bloods.
