When it comes to franchises, NCIS is one of the most popular. There are three shows in the franchise so far, with a fourth coming. As the latest season comes to an end, we’re looking ahead at NCIS: New Orleans Season 8.

NCIS: New Orleans was the third installment in the franchise. Set in New Orleans, Special Agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) leads the team. Like the other franchises, he views his team as family and has a choice in who joins when people leave.

Sadly, we have some bad news about the series. CBS canceled the show back in February 2021. It wasn’t Bakula’s choice to step away. According to TV Insider, Bakula was shocked that the series was canceled after seven seasons, especially during the pandemic year.

While fans are disappointed, it doesn’t sound like the series is being shopped around anywhere. If it was going to head to any streaming service, it would have been Paramount+ in the way that Clarice is potentially heading there for Season 2. However, that doesn’t stop us from hoping for NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 from happening.

Here’s what we do know about the season so far, with updates to come if they ever happen.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 premiere date

There isn’t a premiere date since the show has been canceled. A premiere date if it was saved would depend on the streamer or network that saved it. We just can’t make a judgement call here.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 cast

If the series came back, we’d need Bakula back as Pride. There is no show without him.

We’d also love to see the rest of the cast return. That includes:

  • Rob Kerkovich as Sebastian Lund
  • CCH Pounder as Loretta Wade
  • Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Patton Plame
  • Vanessa Ferlito as Tammy Gregorio
  • Necar Zadegan as Hannah Khoury
  • Charles Michael Davis as Quentin Carter
  • Chelsea Field as Rita Deveraux

Of course, the exact characters will depend on how the series finale goes.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 trailer

Since there isn’t an eighth season confirmed, nothing has been filmed. That means there is no trailer to share.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 8 synopsis

What could happen in NCIS: New Orleans Season 8? We’re looking at more cases that involve murders, abductions, and other crimes. We’d also expect to see plenty of personal development for various characters.

As it’s a procedural show, there’s no need to speculate too much on what the overall storyline could be. That doesn’t tend to happen, with maybe just a few episodes that all connect throughout the season.

NCIS: New Orleans is available to stream on Paramount+.
